Monika Dukarska BBS, MBS Entrepreneurship, PhD Candidate

Monika is a PhD researcher in Education, with her working focusing on the process of facilitation, learning by doing, by using and by interacting. Monika aims to investigate a facilitator training programme in open innovation with Food SMEs.

Monika moved to Kerry with her family at the age of 16 with no word of English. Shortly after arrival she took up rowing with the aim of becoming a part of the local Community and improving her English. Since then, the polish-born sportswoman won several rowing titles and is the current World Coastal Rowing Champion. Monika is a High-Performance athlete and is currently working hard to qualify for and represent Ireland at the Olympic Games in Tokyo in 2020 (and beyond!).

The keen sportswoman is also managing Killorglin Rowing Club (KRC) and is responsible for the day to day running of the Club and its strategic direction. She works towards making KRC self-sustaining and using its resources to generate income. This position is voluntary and involves but is not limited to recruitment and management of members; communications (internal i.e. to members and external – PR, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram), newspapers, website; communication with external stakeholders i.e. Kerry Country Council, Kerry Recreational & Sports Partnership; Rowing Ireland etc.); organisation and manning of fundraising events and organisation of rowing events; logistics around rowing competitions; completing and filing of grant applications.

Furthermore, Monika is a coach and a certified Lego Serious Play facilitator. She facilitates problem-based learning and problem solving at an individual and enterprise level. Monika conducted various research projects for numerous companies i.e. market research projects.She has experience in public and motivational speaking; she developed and delivered research papers on numerous colloquiums.
